Web Gateway Overview (click image below)

What is a Web Gateway?

The Web Gateway (sometimes referred to as Web-to-News) is a web-based portal to Usenet and all the newsgroups provided by Binaries.net (currently more than 120,000 groups are available on our servers). The web address of the gateway is: textreader.binaries.net.

Why Use the Web Gateway?

The Web Gateway is similar to a basic search engine, making it very easy to use. All you need to access the Web Gateway is a computer with an Internet connection and your Binaries.net login information (username and password).

Web Gateway vs. Newsreader

Simple to Use: The gateway is a user-friendly alternative to using a newsreader – which is catered to advanced users. Binaries.net offers their members a newsreader, New Rover, and gateway access to Usenet at no extra charge. If you don’t want to download an extra software application on your machine, we suggest you use the Web Gateway.

Great for travel: A Web-to-News interface is helpful for frequent travelers who want to access Usenet. Because Web-to-News does not require additional software, you can access Usenet from any computer – assuming it has an Internet connection (say from a hotel, airport terminal, or Internet café).

MSN TV: Last but not least, if you are an MSN TV (formerly Web TV) user, the Web Gateway is your only means of accessing text and picture groups in Usenet.

Limitations: The Web Gateway works great for new users, but more advanced users may find it a bit limiting – which is why we offer a newsreader.
